January 23  First Day of Spring term

 8:45 – 9:20  Registration

 9:30 – 12:00  Classes for children and adults

Visit from the Schornsteinfeger. According to the custom in many parts of the German-  speaking countries, a handshake from a chimney sweep at the new year brings good luck for the entire year. TGLS wishes you Viel Glück in the new term!

February 13  Presidents’ Day vacation – NO CLASSES

February 20  Faschingsparty 

Children are asked to bring (not wear) their costumes to put on after the (10.30) break.

Fasching, also called Fastnacht, Fasnet, and Karneval is the late winter period of merry-making. Masks, fancy costumes,   parades with floats mark Fasching in the German-speaking   countries.

Fasching – open house

At 11.30 am in the Community Center at Christ Lutheran church.   Regular classes from 9.30 am – 11.30 am.

This event gives students, parents and friends of the school a   chance to get together and get to know each other while enjoying a nice cup of coffee or tea. The event features games for children, traditional Fasching-dances and lots of  fun for everyone! Traditional German cakes can be bought. The money will be used for teaching and craft materials as   well as for special events  (Maifest, Lantern parade etc.)

March 27  Celebration of Easter traditions

with songs, eggs and   games (Easter egg hunt)

April 3  Easter vacation – NO CLASSES

May 1  MAIFEST

Regular classes from 9.30 am – 10.45 am.

Faculty will open the Maifest at 11:10 (in the Lutheran Community Center), featuring a Program , craft tables, games, a Book Fair and the Enzianer Schuhplattler (German   Dancers). Families and friends are welcome to join their children. Last day of term, pre-registration for summer & fall.

Regular classes from 9.30 am – 10.45 am.

 

June-July  Adult classes meet one evening per week (6 sessions)

Day & time set by students & instructors in consultation with principal.

August 9, 2010 -  August 14, 2010

Summer Day Camp Campingplatz “Katzenkopf”  

One week day camp for children ages 5-12. Camp meets   Monday – Friday 9-2 & Saturday 9-12. Brochures will be   available in February.
